Ambassadors and Lights

Gramercy Theatre
With their thumping drum beats, soothing vocals, Ambassors opened t o a sold out show at New York's Gramercy Theatre. The four-piece band's mixed pop and r&b rhythms got the crowds starting and head nodding. They're song "Unconsolable" was, however, the song that stole the crowd. The lead singer danced across the stage as he picked up the guitar, a played a striking solo and left tunes ringing in the audience's heads as they awaited Lights to come on stage.
Lights' live shows justifies her proclaimed "tickle a gnarly synth." The incredible bass in her single "Toes" was sure to be the song of the night. In her acoustic rendition of "Face Up", heard before at her acoustic solo tour (at Joe Pub this July), is much less intimate but still proved her vocals can sound good in any setting.

Bright and Early @ The Test Tube
This past Saturday, February 19th I went to a show with a couple of my friends. Bright and Early was on a mini tour and they played at this small venue located in a strip mall called The Test Tube. (South Jersey) The show was a regular joe, until the very end. Bright and Early played us one of their new acoustic songs. It's going to be on their new EP (no set date) that will be out sometime in the future.
Stick By Me is the song. When you hear it it's almost as though you fall in love again. It has heartache, memories and love. You can tell how much meaning this song has to Browne (lead singer). This song differs greatly from their other songs on their latest EP "Louder Than Words" much less in your face and cocky. The crowd all sat down together and listened, I'm sure I saw one or two people have at least one tear in their eye. This song reminded me of a Brighten song, but with a more pop punk feel. Lyric "Can we just listen to the rain, there's nothing quite like loving you." I can see being a tattoo one day.
Bright and Early has been in the studio recording for a little while now. But there is no news of a release for a new EP.
Make sure to check out this amazing band and this new song!

Super Mash Bros
January 22, 2011
Irving Plaza, New York City
Review and photos by Billy Zhao
The big apple has been filled with crazy late night, fun-filled event such as the Skins premiere party with Sleigh Bells and Rusko. But party goers looking for a less turbulent scene yet still a heck of a night, came to see Super Mash Bros at Irving Plaza. There are many mashup artists nowadays but these guys are really something different.
It was an extremely frigid winter night as the line of eager fans wrapped around the block chanting, "Super Mash Bros., Super Mash Bros." People traveled from as far as Connecticut to see them. The show was completely sold out according to a sign stuck onto the box office window. At around 10:30, the opening band Anamanaguchi came on getting the entire crowd warmed up with their video game reminiscent beats. After several incredibly upbeat songs they finished their set to let the two dj's take the stage.
Almost midnight, everyone assembles on the main floor jittery as they watch as Super Mash Bros put on their humor ingested intro (a voice-over from comedy movie The Hangover) With remixes loaded with powerfully thumping bass, even security guards could not help to nod their heads. The boys played a series of new songs not on any previously released album. There was not one song where anyone would not be dancing to. Their music definitely justifies their slogan, "Scientifically Proven To Get That Booty Movin'"
Super Mash Bros will be making a stop at the Ultra Festival in Miami in March. Be sure to take some time out of your spring break to see them. As for now, their songs are available to everyone at their site for free.
